what counts

counters reset on the first of the month, UTC

Quotas are per container, not per key. Rotating a lost key does not reset the counter, and adding a second key for the same container does not double the allowance.

Adds and searches are hard limits: over quota returns 429 with an upgrade URL. Extraction is soft-gated and counted separately: when the budget is spent, an add still succeeds and stores the source — the extractor just skips the new facts until the next period.

Do I need my own OpenAI or embedding key?

No. Embeddings run on Workers AI and extraction runs on managed models. Your only credential is a tmk_ service key — there is no BYOK path on the hosted service.

What happens when I hit a limit?

Adds and searches return a 429 with the plan, the counters and an upgrade URL. Extraction is softer: the add still succeeds, the source is stored, and extraction is skipped until the next period.

What happens if I cancel Pro?

The subscription moves to Free at the end of the period. Your container, facts and keys stay intact; the monthly allowances drop to the Free row above.

How do I get my key after paying?

Go to /claim, sign in with Cloudflare Access, then enter the email you used at checkout and the subscription id from your Dodo receipt. Re-claim any time to mint another key; old keys stay valid until you revoke them with DELETE /v1/keys/:id.

Will Pro keep my free memories?

Yes. Use the same email at checkout, or sign in with your free-claim email when you claim the paid key. The paid subscription attaches to the existing free container, so your facts and keys stay in place. A different checkout email is linked through the verified Access email at claim time.

Is there a self-hosted version?

Not today. thin-memory is a hosted service on Cloudflare's edge: Workers, D1, Vectorize and Workers AI. The API itself is small and plain HTTP if you ever want to rebuild the shape.

Who handles tax and refunds?

Dodo Payments is the merchant of record. It calculates tax at checkout, issues the receipt and handles refunds. thin-memory never sees your card details.
